A few months ago I painted my countertops and I've gotten compliments from everyone who's seen them, including a good friend of mine, Machele. She compared the price of granite versus diy and the diy version won by a long shot. So I went over and helped her paint her countertops. We used craft paint, sea sponges and Envirotex (ugh).
Here they are before......

And stunning after photos will soon follow so stay tuned!
Amazing. They look like granite! I can't believe how great they look...and it's paint! How durable is it? Will the paint chip off?
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary! The Envirotex is what gives the counter the high sheen as well as it's durability. It's sort of like what you would see on a restaurant table a very thick, clear, hard as stone, lacquer. I've had my counters done for almost a year and they've held up wonderfully. I'm sure they'll buy us a few more years until we're ready for a new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteMost excellent! I've seen a few blog posts on this technique and they have always impressed me. The dark paint combo you've used is very nice. Such a clever redo!
ReplyDeleteI am soooo darned impressed. I haven't heard of the product Envirotex. Where do you get it? Excellent choice of color for the counter's makeover. A big thank you for this post.
ReplyDeleteAmazing, my sil just did this and I have been tempted my self. THanks for visiting MyCraftcloset to answer your question. I don't know what wonky means? hahaha, but it fits in a really cool asymetrical way, I will post a pic with it on after my tut.
ReplyDeleteCute blog I am a follower.
Your countertops are fabulous! Fantastic job! What a great transformation! Thanks so much for joining the Sunday Showcase. I greatly appreciate it! Hope you are enjoying your week. ~ Stephanie Lynn
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the contrast of the dark countertops with the rest of your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOh...oh...oh! Finally I've found my solution! I love how these turned out. I've seen painted counters before, but never really liked them enough to take the plunge. I have the nastiest counters on the face of the earth, and love granite...but don't have the budget for them. I am going to do this. Thank you so much for posting.
ReplyDeleteThese counter tops are fabulous -would you be willing to do a step by step tutorial ? Also list the exact colors and products? Thanks -KT
