Painted Countertops

(Don't forget to enter the logo design giveaway while your here!)

A few months ago I painted my countertops and I've gotten compliments from everyone who's seen them, including a good friend of mine, Machele. She compared the price of granite versus diy and the diy version won by a long shot. So I went over and helped her paint her countertops. We used craft paint, sea sponges and Envirotex (ugh).

Here they are before......

  1. Amazing. They look like granite! I can't believe how great they look...and it's paint! How durable is it? Will the paint chip off?

  2. Thanks Mary! The Envirotex is what gives the counter the high sheen as well as it's durability. It's sort of like what you would see on a restaurant table a very thick, clear, hard as stone, lacquer. I've had my counters done for almost a year and they've held up wonderfully. I'm sure they'll buy us a few more years until we're ready for a new kitchen.

  3. Most excellent! I've seen a few blog posts on this technique and they have always impressed me. The dark paint combo you've used is very nice. Such a clever redo!

  4. I am soooo darned impressed. I haven't heard of the product Envirotex. Where do you get it? Excellent choice of color for the counter's makeover. A big thank you for this post.

  7. Beautiful! I love the contrast of the dark countertops with the rest of your kitchen.

  8. Oh...oh...oh! Finally I've found my solution! I love how these turned out. I've seen painted counters before, but never really liked them enough to take the plunge. I have the nastiest counters on the face of the earth, and love granite...but don't have the budget for them. I am going to do this. Thank you so much for posting.
