I'm back!

Wow, have I been slacking.  I'm about to share something that is often shunned upon by society.  Something a bit more personal than most people like.

I've been unable to post for the last few years because I was diagnosed with Bipolar II and was put on medication.  Since going on medication, I have lost a great deal of creativity in exchange for a more stable personality.  Out of severe frustration with my Drs. (who weren't communicating well between each other, leaving me neglected, along with struggling for 3 years as a guinea pig trying to find the right medication) I quit the meds they did have me on.

This is a very controversial subject and I DO NOT recommend anyone struggling with a mental illness to take matters in their own hands.  In my case however, my family and I agreed to take a break and if need be, start fresh with a new doctor when the time comes.

I ask that if anyone feels the need to leave a comment on this post, please do so in a kind manner.  Please do not be judgmental.  For just ONE negative comment can easily trigger a depression.

On a lighter note, there's a LOT of good stuff to come.  We're getting all new flooring, I picked up a beautiful 4 piece bedroom set that I'm refinishing for my daughters room and a boat load of painting.

I'll leave it at that for now.

I Heart Faces - Sunglasses

So i heart faces has their weekly contest and I just had to enter...the theme this week is sunglasses. This is a picture of Sarah McLachlan playing the keyboard at the Lilith Fair this summer. In this photo you can see the reflection of her hands playing on the keyboard, very cool.

Lilith Fair 2010 - Detroit

It's been 15 years since I first heard the angelic voice of Sarah Mclachlan. She is an inspiration and her music has entwined itself into my life. She exudes sensuality, femininity and confidence...all of which I wish I had a bit more of. Best of all she's discovered her true self and what she's good at, not many people can say that. I know I'm still striving to find myself and the only thing I know for sure is that her music belongs in my life.

When my husband told me he had bought us tickets to the Lilith Fair for our anniversary I immediately began counting down the days, for those of you who aren't Sarah fans or at least aren't familiar with her music and such, she's been on a seven year hiatis so I was more then ready for a date night with
my husband Sarah.

Her new cd, Laws of Illusion is just as I would have expected, wonderful. The mix of background music makes you want to jiggle in your seat and her vocals amazing as usual. So when it came time to go to the Lilith Fair I never would have expected to catch Sarah playing keyboard and singing backup for Melissa McClelland so thank goodness my husband elbowed me and said "hey, doesn't that look like...." and sure enough there she was right in front of me the whole time on one of the side stages jamming with another act. Nobody realized it, that's how I weaseled my way right up to the front and got these beautiful pics.

Isn't she just lovely?

Some of the other artists there were Vita Chambers, Melissa McClelland, Chantal Kreviazuk, Miranda Lambert, Suzanne Vega and more. Such a wonderful time.

Childhood Bedroom Set

This was my childhood bedroom set and one of my first furniture makeovers....

It used to be a cherry finish with brass handles and I distressed it and filled in some of the handle holes with wood filler, then drilled single holes for the oval glass knobs.

I ended up selling it in a garage sale for $30 for both...I was a bit disappointed, at least it covered the money I put into the knobs.
