Reupholstered Drop Cloth Chair

Despite my sewing machine issues I still managed to finish my chair. I did however have to wind my bobbin by hand to get the job done. Here she is in all her mod glory!

Mojo Interruption

So I know my youngest has been dropping pins into my sewing machine through the bobbin winding hole. I didn't think it was affecting my machine until my bobbin stopped winding. Hubby shook out all of the pins, that was quite a work-out and I tried again but apparently it wasn't the pins causing the problem. My machine is just simply broken.

This is the second time I've has to take this machine in within the last 6 months. The first time my timing was off and now it's the bobbin winding issue. Growing up my mom always said, "you have to get a Singer". Well, I did. And I'm not impressed. Apparently I'm not the only one that's had this problem either.

Repurposed Book Clock

If you haven't seen Living with Lindsay's book wreath tutorial it's totally worth checking out.

I adapted the idea to save a trash bound clock that's been sitting in the garage. I took the clock apart and began the magic. Here's the before and after...

Thrift Store Treasures!

I've been eyeing these two lovelies up at the local thrift store but I couldn't justify paying $24.99 each. So this past Monday all yellow tag items were 1/2 off! Needless to say I brought them home and they have a comfy little spot on my dining room wall, together.

Go Tigers!

My husband and I were lucky enough to get last minute tickets to the Tigers game the other day. Our seats were 9 rows behind home plate, wow. I've never been that close and probably never will be again. Here are some pics...I'm still getting to know my Canon Rebel so any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Brandon Inge and Johnny Damon in a casual conversation.

Ryan Perry - I won the jersey off his back last year at a game, such a youngster!

Laird - I swear he was looking right at me.

This is what I think of when I hear the word "baseball". Intensity.

Symbolism at it's finest, a fans hat on backwards and Johnny Damon in the background. Pretty cool.

Lovely Clusters Creative Blog List

Lovely Clusters is including links to websites all creative. I'm so hoping to get on there, how cool! To submit my information I have to do a couple of things, first I have to answer these questions:

1. Brief intro to yourself (1-4 sentences)

I'm a 30-something mom of two, married to an amazing man who I wouldn't trade for even a legal aged Taylor Lautner. ;) I've always been willing to try something new and love to keep my hands busy. My mind works faster then I can and I usually end up with too many pokers in the fire but I thrive on organized chaos in my head.

2. What do you create?

I sew, design photo announcements and invitations, refinish furniture, and love to paint....EVERYTHING.

3. At least two images of your work, or studio etc.

Trash Pickin' Treasure

You'll never believe what I found in the trash today, I still can't believe it....

A fresh coat of paint and a screw and nut to fix a strap and presto, this woman's treasure!

Now I just have to find cushions that aren't going to cost an arm and a leg. I thought about recovering the old ones or but I have so many pokers in the fire right now that I'd rather now.....anyone know where to get patio cushions on the cheap?

Not too sure....

I made this last night to go with the material I ordered from fabric.com for my dining room curtains (swatch below) but I'm not too sure about it yet. I feel like something's missing...a border or something, matting maybe?

I found a German book at the thrift store and mod podged them to a plain sheet of paper then mixed the mod podge with a bit of brown paint, painted it on and quickly wiped it off to age it a little. Then I painted some poppies on it and stuck 'er in a frame.

Any thoughts?

Spring Porch Makeover

BEFORE:

AFTER:

My porch has been in desperate need of attention so I took one beautiful day (yesterday) to spruce it up. A coat of paint and a new plant stand and plant and all is well.

Unfortunately I couldn't remove the door knocker to paint it because the screws were stripped so I had to improvise. I used petroleum jelly on the door where I was going to be painting (I used a textured black spray paint on the knocker and handles). I didn't want the texture of the spray paint to show through the paint on the door so the jelly made it easy to wipe off the spray when I was finished.

Then I used left over paint from my kitchen to repaint the door....

Our patio chairs needed a fresh coat of paint so I used the textured spray paint to touch those up as well...

I picked up a stand from The Christmas Tree Shop (great store, they have everything and at great prices too)! Of course it got a spray treatment too and the plant I twist tied to the stand so it wouldn't blow off and finally I have a porch to be proud of...

Overall cost:
Textured spray paint = $6.49
Table = $9.99
Plant = $4.99
Total = $21.47

Happy Spring!
